Halloween 2012

This Halloween was SO fun.  Jovie is at the perfect age now for really getting it and getting in to it!  She would walk down the street shouting theatrically, "Happy Halloween!" and she was so good about saying thank you at each house.

She really wanted to be a pirate, so I gave her a few costume options to choose from and this was her pick.  She looked absolutely adorable.  I know I'm biased, but she's pretty much the cutest pirate on the face of the planet.

Finally Going Private

I'm finally making my blog private. If you didn't give me your email last time I talked about this and you want an invite, leave a comment.  I'll have the comments on "moderate" so I won't publish your email.  Thanks!

Dallas Getaway, Part Dos

On Monday morning, we headed over to the Dallas World Aquarium and, just as we had thought, Jovie loved it!

Later, we headed to the Galleria Mall, a huge, three-story shopping heaven.  We let the bug run around and expend some energy in the kid's play area and she had a blast.

After Cheesecake Factory, swimming, and the bug's bedtime, Troy and I indulged in our current obsession, 24.  We're about ten years late jumping on the bandwagon, but we're officially on it.

And there you have it.  Our short, but fabulous, trip to Dallas.  The end.

Dallas Getaway, Part Uno

Troy, Jovie, and I went on a little getaway to Dallas recently and it was so much fun!  I am so glad Troy suggested it.  Summers are crazy busy for us (okay, mostly him) and he doesn't really take time off, so this was just the break we needed!

On Sunday afternoon, we drove the three hours to Dallas and checked into the Fairmont Dallas Hotel.  We got settled and freshened up, asked for a restaurant recommendation, and walked a block to the trolley stop that took us uptown to dinner.

We happened to get the only trolley that wasn't air conditioned.  Hot much?
We went to Primo's Tex-Mex Restaurant.  We probably wouldn't have picked it just by looking at it, but I'm glad somebody recommended it because it was actually really good.  Jovie loved feeding her dad the chips.  She'd hold out a chip, turn her head and wait with anticipation, and laugh it up when Troy came in for the bite.  You had to be there.

After walking around and taking the trolley back to our hotel, we decided to call it a night.  One of us was making it clear that we were plum tuckered out.  Notice the red, puffy eyes.

She slept for 13 hours that night.  We even woke up before her.  At 8:30.  We can't remember the last time we both got to sleep in until 8:30.
